Into Good English

I offer two services: a translation service for publishers or individuals who want something translated from German into English, and a proofreading service for publishers or individuals who want to check that a written text is in good English. The text in question might be of any length at all: a letter, an article, a dissertation or thesis, even a book.
I offer a professional, publishable translating and proofreading service for publishers, and a less formal service for students and the like. The less formal service might include:
- translating an academic article to a standard which is sufficient to grasp the content, but would not be publishable,
- producing a summary, or even answering questions about what the given article says about a specific subject.
- I also proofread dissertations and theses for students who want to ensure that they have expressed themselves as lucidly as possible.
Rosemarie did a wonderful job proofreading my dissertation. Not only did she correct my grammar, but she also improved my academic form and style. As an international student, I found her a great help, especially at the final stage of writing. She is friendly and a really good editor.

I am an experienced proofreader, and have worked on biblical commentaries, Hebrew grammars, books on other subjects, prospectus', dissertations and theses.
I am the translator of The New Testament Among the Writings of Antiquity by Detlev Dormeyer. In addition, I have translated six academic articles, and some eyewitness accounts of an historical event, to the lesser standard described above.
I have also 'corrected' a book written in Dutch English into publishable English English!
As my services are available on two levels, you will appreciate that the price for a job will be on a sliding scale. There is a professional rate for translation to a publishable standard, and a lower rate for less formal work. The less formal rate will depend on exactly what is required, while the professional rate will be tagged at £40 per 1000 words.
